Staff Writer | Tuesday, 27 Jul 2010

Former LTTE chief arms procurer Kumaran Pathmanathan (KP) who is now under custody in Sri Lanka and is reportedly assisting the government will not enter politics, Government Minister and former rebel Karuna Amman said.

Amman alias Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan, in an interview with Daily Mirror online says KP does not have any political knowledge as he was purely acquiring weapons for the LTTE before its military defeat last year.

“There is no plan for him to enter politics. The Government has no plan on that. This issue was raised in the Parliament by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) who said that he was going to be made the chief minister of the Northern Province. KP is not a politician and he will not become one. He is under custody and he supports the government while being in custody,” Minister Muralitharan.(DM)
