Vietnam has expressed its willingness to reopen a resident diplomatic Mission in Colombo by early next year, the External Affairs Ministry said. This was said by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Viet Nam Dao Viet Trung.
He has also said that the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam should consider signing an agreement between the two Ministries on Dialogue and Cooperation on Political and Policy matters, to update regular overview of the cooperation between the two Ministries to further strengthen the existing cordial relations.
Sri Lanka and Viet Nam diplomatic relations will mark its 40th Anniversary in 2010 and the reestablishment of a resident Mission in Colombo would undoubtedly help enhance the relations with the two countries, the External Affairs Ministry said.(DM)
