A mother and her two sons were given the death sentence by the Kalmunai High Court this evening for the murder of a Civil Defence officer in 2004. The accused were condemned to death based on eyewitness accounts. The mother S. Umma (45) and her sons M. Faizal (26) and I. Rishan (24) had allegedly committed the murder over a dispute in Oluvil in 2004 and was subsequently arrested.(DM)
