The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) is to hold a massive protest rally on Wednesday (21) against the “dictatorial” government that has challenged the independence of the judiciary and to call for former Army Commander and DNA parliamentarian Retired General Sarath Fonskea’s release.
The DNA rally is to be organized by its main coalition partner, the JVP. The rally is to be held at Campbell Park on the 21st at 3 p.m. DNA parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told The Sunday Leader that people would be made aware of the government’s disregard of the judiciary, as court orders permitting General Fonseka to attend parliamentary affairs have been violated. Thousands of protestors are expected to participate at the event, organizers said.(SL)
