Police noted that the victims had been hacked to death with sharp weapons. "Following a tip off given by a villager, the police who visited the crime scene had discovered the bodies," said Senior DIG Jayantha Gamage.

Police noted that the victims included a father, mother, daughter and son. He noted that steps had been taken to carry out the Magisterial inquiry at the location and to call for the judicial medical officer.

"A special team of police officers headed by the ASP in Eppawala has been assigned to carry out investigations into the incident," said Senior DIG.(NF)
